The originator of the Bengston Energy Healing Method — sociologist, professor, and the teacher who carried a curious technique into the laboratory and the world.

On April 16, 2025, William F. Bengston passed away at the age of 75.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, Bill developed and refined the technique that would come to bear his name — the Bengston Energy Healing Method. A sociologist by training and a professor by trade, he brought an academic's discipline to a subject most of his colleagues preferred to dismiss. He ran the experiments anyway, published the results, and spent the rest of his life teaching others to do the work themselves.
He was, by all accounts, a patient teacher and an irreverent one. He had little patience for mystique and less for ceremony. He liked a good joke, a good story, and a boat — and he seems to have regarded the whole enterprise of energy healing with a healthy dose of his own skepticism.
Those who learned from him remember a mentor who insisted that the technique was not his gift to keep but a skill to be taught, tested, and passed on. That work continues here.
